Travel & Multi-Section Fishing Rods
One style of fishing rod has always held a particular interest for me — the travel, or multi-section, fishing rod. These rods have been around for decades. I can still recall the original Japanese boxed multi-section rods of the 1960s, which cleverly offered three or four rods in one case by combining different sections. They were available in both saltwater pier, boat, and shore configurations, as well as fly and spinning freshwater models, and were hugely popular.
Today, modern materials used in the construction of rod blanks have expanded what is possible, allowing multi-section rods to perform at levels once reserved for traditional one-piece builds.

Current Travel Rod Options
I currently offer four travel rod configurations. Each is designed with a specific purpose in mind and built to perform while remaining practical for travel.
9ft (7 piece) - #5 fly fishing rod
This rod includes rod bag with hard fabric 20inch/51cms rod tube. Described by my clients who have already invested in this rod - "a joy to cast & fish with.". Includes a 2nd (spare) tip section
10ft (4/5 piece) Multi Use Rod
1 to 4ozs multi-use rod suitable for exploring the shoreline or jetty angling, switching easily to carp/pike fishing, with the added bonus of a 2nd butt section that when used with the two upper sections offers an almost perfect 12/20lbs class boat rod. Section lengths are 32.5ins/83cms
6 foot 6 inch (3 Piece) Work horse
3pce carbon/glass 20/30lbs class rod capable of challenging the lighter big game fish. Equally at home over wrecks if you are looking for a workhorse this is for you. Built length 28.5ins/73cms awaiting travels in your suitcase.
6 Foot (3 piece) - 30/50lbs class 3
30/50lbs class 3pce ‘E-Glass’ power house. Probably the ultimate big game travel rod for marlin and similar big hitting pelagic species. Built length 27ins/69cms – almost too suitcase friendly.
